Banners and Flag Poles – Holland and Friesland

I have traveled back and forth to the Netherlands for the last few years and it sure is one of my favorite places to visit. This beautiful country consists of a number of the different provinces, that each flies their unique flags and banners. For example, the so called Frisian flag (in Dutch “Friese vlag”), is the official provincial flag of the province of Friesland. This flag displays beautifully from flag poles throughout this respective territory.

The flag as flown from posts and flag poles in modern times consists of 4 blue colored and 3 white diagonal stripes or bands, each band being of the same width. Interestingly, the 3 white stripes display 7 red colored heart-shaped leaves of a water-lily. Since this particular province is quite patriotic, objects of all kinds are modeled after this wonderful flag, including soccer jerseys.

The country of the Netherlands is well known for its location in relation to the sea. Surrounded by the North Sea on both the west and north side of the country, the Netherlands has fought a continuous battle against (sea) water. With a substantial part of the national territory below the actual sea-level, various provinces are protected from the sea through sand dunes and dikes.

The national flag of the Netherlands is (however) significantly different from the Frisian flag. The Dutch national banner is a tricolor type flag, displaying the colors red, white and blue on three equally sized horizontal bands. Fascinatingly, it is one of the oldest tricolors in the world that is still flown from commercial and residential flag poles in our day. Introduced back in 1572, it was not until the 20th century that the Dutch flag was officially adopted as the national flag of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Flags of different countries, including the Netherlands, are available in nylon and polyester for use with flag poles of all kinds. Provincial banners, such as Frisian one, are harder to get however. At times these flags are made available through flag rental opportunities or available for purchase through a custom flag company.

Flag Poles and Flags of the Past – Betsy Ross

I want it Now!

America is known for flying big flags from flag poles. Also, its history has produced all kinds of flags and banners over the years, including historic and military flags. Most Americans are familiar with the Betsy Ross flag as some historians claim it to be the very first flag of the United States of America.

The flag of the U.S. is also commonly referred to as “Old Glory” and the “Stars and Stripes.” The Betsy Ross flag, interestingly, was an early design of this flag. It was first displayed towards the end of the eighteenth century. This banner has horizontal bands, just like the current U.S. flag, alternating white and red. The canton of the Betsy Ross flag is colored dark blue and shows thirteen stars in a circle form arrangement. The number thirteen stands for the thirteen original colonies of the past. Every so often one can observe this flag flown from flag poles throughout the United States of America.

Many of these flags of the past, including flags of different countries, state and battle flags, and some modern big flags have some controversy to their history. The same also can be said about the Betsy Ross flag. Some historic professionals are convinced that the Betsy Ross banner was not the first United States flag. Most historians and Americans do however.

The legend or the story as it is told in our day explains that this beautiful historic banner was first used in the late 18th century. A special committee, which included George Washington, learned about the need for a new U.S. flag. The Betsy Ross became this flag. The thirteen horizontal stripes represent the 13 states that were in existence at that time. The arrangement of stars in a circle symbolizes the equality among the thirteen states. Regardless of what its story may really be, it has been flown from flag poles and such for decades.

Reproduction of these old flags in modern materials for use with flag poles is done using the latest in technology. Big flags are produced from high quality fabrics. Regular 3 by 5 feet flags are made from nylon (for outdoor circumstances) and polyester. These materials were not used before the 20th century.

Flag Poles and Flags – China

Banners and flags, including giant flags, have been displayed as a means to signal or identify for centuries, if not thousands of years. It is claimed that the first flags were produced and displayed in Asia. Interestingly, flag poles of all kinds have been around for a lot period of time as well.

Most countries in our world today have a beautifully designed flag or banner that identifies with the respective countries. China, for example, shows a red colored background otherwise known as flag field with on the left five gold stars, with one star being larger than the other four. During the Olympic games of the year 2008, the Chinese flew national banners, including giant flags, from both residential and commercial type flag poles all over the country.

Like other flag colors, the color red displayed on Chinese flags represents the revolution of the past. All stars represent the Chinese people who live under rule of the Communist Party of China and have done so for years. Those familiar with flags also commonly refer to this beautiful flag as the “Five Star Red Flag.”

The national flag of China is not the only flag that displays a substantial red colored field. There are quite a few other national banners (in different parts of the world) that also display a red background. At the time, the Soviet Union (also referred to as USSR) flew a red colored banner from flag poles. Interestingly, this flag had a hammer crosses with a sickle as well as red colored star on the left portion (next hoist side) of the flag.

Interestingly, and even though flags and banners have been around for as long as they have, the national banner of China is relatively young. Following the Chinese civil war, towards the end of the first half of the 20th century, the flag design was chosen from among thirty eight other designs / contestants that participated in a competition organized by the so called “Preparatory Committee.”

Following completion of the first production of the Chinese flag, it was first raised and flown from a flagpole under direction of Mao Zedong, back in 1949. Interestingly, it was during that same occasion that the People’s Republic was first presented to the Chinese people.

Most flags, including giant flags, are produced using the latest in manufacturing technology. Flags flown from flag poles in residential, commercial and especially industrial areas are subject wear and tear.

Banners and Flag Poles – Egypt

Flag poles are a great means to attach and fly all kinds of banners and flags of different countries, including giant flags. Even though there are more than 190 countries in the world, there are a few countries that don’t have their uniquely designed national flag or banner. Countries that do have a flag include most of the well known countries in the world today.

Egypt is one country that does however. Like other flags, the national flag of Egypt displays three equally sized horizontal bands or stripes that are colored (from hoist side onwards) red, white and black. In the middle of the flag the national emblem is shown. This banner was officially flown as the national flag of Egypt from a flagpole 26 years ago.

Now, the current Egypt flag was first discussed by the Muhammad Ali Dynasty, which was the ruling “government” of Egypt and Sudan (on the south), from the 1800-s to the mid 1900-s. It is named after Muhammad Ali Pasha, also considered as the founder of modern Egypt.

Interestingly, the national banner or flag of Sudan can be observed attached to flag poles and such in and around places throughout Sudan and other countries. It will not come as a surprise to many that this national flag has resemblance to the one of Egypt. This banner was officially adopted back in the 70-s and, unlike the flag of Egypt, shows a green triangle on the left or hoist side of the flag.

The country of Egypt has flown different flags and banners over the course of its history. Some 80 years ago, Britain officially recognized the independence of Egypt. It did so on one condition, which was that the Sultan of Egypt change his title to that of King. Today it is officially known as an Arab Republic.

The flag that was displayed from 1922 to 1953 from aluminum and steel flag poles and such was (obviously) flown for only a few decades. The flag of Sudan is a striking resemblance of the flag of the Arab Revolt. One the tallest flag poles in the world is the Aqaba flagpole (427 feet; located in Jordan). This pole flies giant flags that can be seen all the way from Egypt.

Flag Poles For Sale – Telescoping Type Poles

Telescoping poles come in three different lengths or sizes, namely: fifteen, twenty and twenty-five ft. These poles have become a need to many seeking an interesting alternative to flagpoles that come in different pieces or sections. Telescoping (often) flag poles for sale include a trigger button which allows for quick extending and retracting. They are considered maintenance free, even though a little bit of cleaning can be “good practice.”

Since telescoping flagpoles have no flagpole rope to raise or lower banners and flags, they are considered absolutely silent in comparison to external halyard system type poles. Telescoping poles come in three different sizes and include a kit with different parts and accessories to make it all “come to pass.” Also, consider the different finishes that are commonly made available for these poles, such as the clear or bronze anodized finish. The twenty five ft version of this flagpole type only comes with a clear finish.

To prevent vandals from raising or lowering telescoping flag poles make sure to use the nut and bolt that is included in the flag pole kit. Those seeking more security can purchase a separate lock that secures the collar, thus preventing anyone from gaining access.

15 and 20 ft flagpoles size include a gold ball ornament. The twenty five ft variation does not however. All parts and accessories fit nicely adding beauty to your construction. 3′x5′ ft flags and banners fly nicely on 15 and 20 ft poles, where a 4′x6 ft flag is suggested for those installing 25 ft poles.

All flag poles include a foundation or ground sleeve. Dependent on the material and length of the flagpole, either a heavy duty PVC or steel foundation sleeve will be used. Since these poles are relatively light, a PVC ground sleeve is used as a foundation. For your information, PVC stands for “polyvinyl chloride,” and is the third most used plastic type in the world. PVC has become increasingly popular in the world of construction because it is cost-effective and durable.

Use An RV Flag Pole To Distinguish Your Camper From The Rest

Your RV is no different from your home. If you want your RV to be as comfortable as it can be, you have to do something about it. Since more than one individual have the same RV model, you have to make yours stand out and let it show your personality. One of the many methods you can do this is to use RV flag pole, emblems, or ties.

You have the choice to have a bare pole or embellish it with ensigns or ties. But wouldn’t it be much more fun if you fly your little RV flag when you reach your campsite? Besides being just something you add to your RV to make it more you, an RV flag pole has some useful roles too. In a full camping area or parking lot, it’s very difficult to find your vehicle. With an RV flag pole, this shouldn’t be a problem any more. It’s better to look for a unique flag than a vehicle since the former is less complicated to identify. Why do you have to spend more time and anxiety?

Another purpose of an RV flag pole is for safety and security reasons. If thieves would rob something that can easily be described, then they would be risking their own actions; so they pursue those that can’t easily be perceived by other persons. How about that for a thief-proof RV?

If you propose on securing a flag pole for your RV, think of what type of flag pole you want. With more flag companies joining the flag business, buyers have more choices to pick from. If you want a fiberglass flagpole that is flexible and resistant to the elements, they are several them to select from. How about a telescopic pole? It’s easy to take on and off so you’ll have no problems with the installation. Although it’s called a flagpole, you can place other stuff in place of a flag. Many persons place on wind indicators, buntings, or small kites just for the fun of it. That would make your RV reveal more of who you are.

Even so, if flags, wind socks, or small kites are not your thing, then try placing lights upon your fiberglass flagpoles. An LED strobe light or a kit to make your pole light up like a Christmas tree would look attractive on your RV flag pole, but that’s completely up to you. Not only does it make you stick out literally by lighting up your RV, but you also make it safer for other drivers on the road.

Diet and cystic acne relationship

I have heard of many people who claim to have solved their cystic acne problems through diet, but unfortunately it doesn’t work for everyone. There is some ambiguity on what a “good diet” consists of. For example, some diets are not too keen on grain and carbohydrate based foods while most nutritionists recommend a grain based diet. Also there are lots of books on diet and foods, and there are some differences in opinion.

Interestingly, many studies had been performed on the diet and cystic acne relationship, and none was found. Also, a sickness or disease caused by malnutrition or poor diet tends to linger on until the poor diet is rectified. For example, if you had a low iron intake, you would continue to feel tired and run down until your iron intake increased. Cystic acne (in most cases) disappears in the mid-twenties even though sufferers have made no change in their diet. Now, if cystic acne is a disease caused by poor diet, why should it suddenly disappear?

One thing I would object strongly to, is the idea that cystic acne is a symptom of western diet.  In fact, those of us who have travelled may have noticed that traditional Asian and African diets are no better for their culture than western diets, at least in terms of the incidence of cystic acne amongst their people. There may well be strong evidence to suggest that western diets are not actually very good for us – but there really is no evidence that it can either cause or worsen cystic acne.

I am not seeking to totally discredit the claim that diet has a part to play in cystic acne but still there are lots of other factors that can trigger this skin condition like hormones, genetics, vitamin deficiency, stress and much more.

Monster Steel Flag Poles – Put Your Business on the Map

Many flag poles have been sold over the years and the external halyard type pole probably being the most popular one. These relatively inexpensive flagpoles have proven themselves to be great for residential and commercial grounds. There were tall steel flag poles and big flags are required, an internal halyard system might offer a better solution.

Flag poles are shipped out to customers with a flag pole kit. This kit includes all the necessary components to make a flagpole work nicely, including various ornaments. A ground sleeve also is included for foundation purposes. PVC type sleeves are mainly used for smaller sized residential type flagpoles up to twenty five feet in length.

There are many that wish to put their business or whatever type of real-estate on the map using “Monster” steel flag poles. These poles (up to 130 plus ft) are ideal for flying big flags up to 30 by 60 ft in size. Internal halyard systems are recommended with these pole-lengths since the weight of flying big flags can really cause problems when lowering or raising such large banners using an external halyard. The gearless winch (which includes a removable handle) works nicely with steel flag poles.

The halyard or flagpole rope used with external halyard systems is different from the halyard used with internal halyard systems. External type poles include a waterproof and mildew resistant nylon rope with a steel core whereas the halyard that comes with internal systems is made from stainless steel. External halyards are commonly offered in different colors as to match the color of pole-shafts.

Smaller sized residential and commercial flag poles usually a shipped for free in the U.S. Make sure to learn the terms and conditions with regards to free shipping. Also, all poles include handy installation instructions. Make sure to connect with your local authorities before doing any digging.

The recommendation is that flag poles above one hundred feet in height should be installed with an internal halyard system to aid in the raising or lowering of big flags.
